“Ego” & Emmerdale Strut the Catwalk
Emmerdale stars, Tony Audenshaw (aka Bob Hope) and Lucy Pargeter (aka Chastity Dingle), posed for the cameras amongst a lineup of catwalk models as they flaunted hair styles by Ego Hair Studio, Leeds, at a charity event for the children’s charity Phys-Cap this September.
Held at Alea Casino and in the presence of Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Judith Elliott, the combination of Ego's top creative hair design and stunning clothes supplied by Harvey Nichols, was a huge hit with the audiences.
Coordinator of the event, David Bransby, was extremely pleased with the evening which raised thousands for the charity and was hailed a huge success.
Boasting a collection of some of the most prominent hair stylists from the biggest high street names in Leeds and Yorkshire, Ego Hair Studio is no stranger to superior hair catwalk shows, producing three outstanding events in Leeds, since it opened in 2008.
The salon has earned itself a popular name with clients reaping the benefit of excellent haircuts and coloring from Leeds' "Top Stylists", "Art Directors" and sought after hairdressers.
Ego is just a minute’s walk from Leeds Corn Exchange on Cross York Street and is the creation of Lisa Puente and Haim Ruhan, who have both held top positions in some of Leeds' most successful salons.
Ego offers 20% off a cut and blow dry for all new clients.

Ego Hair salon owner Lisa Puente tells us why the people of Leeds are a stylist's dream
What do you enjoy most about working at Ego Hair?
I think that, most of all, it's the people I work with. We all get on so well - every member of the team has gelled together and there is always a happy vibe about the place. I really enjoy working with Haim, my busines partner. Haim is a stylist here as well and we have very different attributes that complement one another and we influence and encourage each other's creativity. The light-hearted, easy-going atmosphere makes it easy to prepare for what the day has to offer.
There are many salons in Leeds. What do you think makes Ego stand out?
All the stylists who work here have been hand-selected for their expert experience and most of all their top-class skills. I have worked with most of our staff in the past in other salons and this gives us a good, solid base for a working relationship as we know each other well and I'm already confident that we can all work together to produce excellent results.
Given the current trends, what would you say is the most popular hairstyle at the moment?
This summer, everything has gone au naturel. For the daytime, influence is being drawn from very simple styles that are easy to create and maintain such as natural curls, soft boho looks and surfer beach hair. Alternatively, for a night on the town, quirky, big, blow-dried 'Dallas'-esque styles are making a comeback.
Being a hairdresser, people must tell you everything. Have you had any particularly strange customers or stories?
Thanks to our diverse client range, we get to hear everythng that is going on in leeds. You would love to be a fly on the wall in this place and listen to some of the stiff we get told...but client confidentiality is high on our list of priorities. We have to be able to keep secrets.
What is the most exciting and innovative style you hve been asked to do?
We have been asked to produce a few interesting cuts and colours in the past, mainly for students and people dedicated to high fashion. The majority of our crazy stuff through, is done on catwalks and in photo shoots. The most eclectic mix of my experimental designs and styles are produced at places like the L'Oreal Colour trophy finals.
Yorkshire has been named the friendliest couty in England. What do you think makes customers in Leeds so special?
Leeds is a very forward-thinking, down-to-eath city. We're not the biggest city in terms of nightlife like London but Leeds fashion and the style of its people is inspiring. Our customers from Leeds have great personal style and are open to trying new ideas - a stylist's dream clientelle. Leeds definately has a very unique population. It's full of interesting peope with fresh eyes for anything new and that great to work with.
